Today we will look at the high-end graphics card segment of today. This of course includes the just launched GeForce 9800GTX, but also the previously launched 9600GT, and the older cards of the GeForce 8800 series, both G80 and G92-based. They go up against the Radeon HD 3800 and 3600 series, with 3870X2 and 3870 CrossFire at the top of the ladder, 3650 at the bottom and Radeon HD 3870 and 3850 in between. Most of all we’ve made sure to use a test system that will render as few bottlenecks as possible, while also making sure no automatic overclocking features will compromise the results.
“The graphics card market is alive and kicking, and the last two years have been quite exciting. The clock frequencies have gone through the roof, more shaders have been implemented, the manufacturing processes have been refined and the power consumption, and thus the heat dissipation, has been going up and down like a sinus wave.”
