To us it’s quite exciting that OCZ now has launched their new memory modules with especially high specified voltages.
The well-known manufacturer has always had an eye for the enthusiast market and OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Gold VX (Voltage eXtreme) is a shear salute to previous mentioned market. Since DFI launched their LAN Party series for the Socket 939 platform with especially high voltage settings for the memories we’ve been waiting for the memory manufacturers to make use of the situation.
OCZ seems to be the first to make a move with their recently launched OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Gold VX which has a specified voltage at 3.3v, DDR-SDRAM is regularly specified to 2.5v. But OCZ actually allows much higher voltages before there’s a warranty breach.
“OCZ VX Gold Edition memory modules are rated to handle up to an incredible 3.5V without invalidating the OCZ Lifetime Warranty so that performance enthusiasts can tweak their systems without worry.”
The modules are optimized to work at which voltages and at 3.3v they are specified to astonishing 2-2-2-8 timings at DDR500-speeds. Not bad, not bad at all!
A system consisting of a DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-DR and a couple of OCZ EL DDR PC-4000 Gold VX-modules is probably every overclockers dream.
