The biggest drawback of batteries, beside the fact they drain too fast, is that they lose capacity by time. The lifespan shortens as the battery is being used and the capacity diminishes for each days that passes. Hitachi now claims to have a technology that doubles the lifespan of Lithium Ion batteries.

Lithium ion batteries are used in everything from notebooks to cars and mobile phones. Hitachi says that it has come up with a better mix of substances in its batteries that will make them more durable to battery acid and rust.

The result will be lithium ion batteries with a lifespan of up to 10 years. This is something Hitachi hopes to use in several market shares where both sun and wind power plants are at the top of the list, but also the car industry is up there.

Even if we gladly see more durable batteries in our notebooks and mobile phones we hope to see better capacity too, you just can’t get enough battery hours.
