Hitachi has now made a press release which tells of what markets and technologies the company is going to focus on next year and the two main goals seems to be security and hybrid technology. The roadmap is foremost for the mobile market showing off Hitachi’s 2.5″ harddrives, where it is planning to launch two models at 200GB+ and at the same time put a lot of focus on security features. It is planning an encryption technology that is integrated into the hardware for extra security. The perhaps most interesting part though, is that Hitachi will jump onto the HHD train and launch hybrid harddrives next year.

Samsung is the company who has been pushing for the HHD technology the most, but also Hitachi will use flash memory to improve the performance and features of the harddrive.

“The potential benefit of a hybrid storage solution – especially for mobile devices – ranges from longer battery life, faster boot-up time and recovery from hibernation, to greater reliability and higher performance.”
