Google and Microsoft have been fighting for the e-mail accounts since 2004 when Google launched Gmail. Since then the storage capacity of Gmail has been increasing every day, even every second, while Hotmail has instead been upgraded in steps to Hotmail live and 2GB capacity. Gmail currently offers more than 2.8GB capacity and up until recently Gmail was the service that offered the most storage. For the first time since the launch of Gmail, Hotmail now offers more storage. Through the recent update, that adds another 3GB, the storage is now up to 5GB for the free account. Whether Google will do something similar remains to be seen, but we doubt it. Perhaps it will launch that Gbrowser that has once again resurfaced through analyst speculations… but we doubt that too.
