The AMD64 architecture is as you most likely know the foundation of AMD’s popular Opteron and Athlon 64 processors that have even caused the chip giant Intel some concern the last couple of years. AMD will soon launch its Socket AM2 platform and even if it is for the first time in a very, very long time it will switch memory standard it is still the AMD64 architecture it is working with.
