HP has made the leap and launched a “netbook” of its own. HP 2133 Mini-Note PC is a 8.9″ laptop with a VIA C7-ULV processor (up to 1.6GHz) under the hood, and an overall durable design. We’re not surprised that HP has decided to design and develop a cheap ultraportable of its own now that the market has really started to gain a following. HP touts the 2133 Mini-Note PC as an educational aid most of all, and at the same time it has announced the Teacher Experience Exchange.

“To help K-12 teachers effectively integrate new technology in the classroom, HP also plans to provide free, online professional development courses designed to engage students and improve student achievement through the use of technology.”

Beside the previously mentioned features, HP 2133 Mini-Note PC sports a full-size keyboard, touchpad and an optional webcam. The 8.9″ display supports resolutions up to 1280×768. You can pick between up to 160GB harddrive, 64GB SSD or 4GB flash drive for storage, which can be extended with external solutions through the two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, and Secure Digital (SD) slot.

It also sports 802.11b/g wireless networking, optional Bluetooth 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, and VGA output. Prices start at $499 and the unit will become available later this month.
