HP Blackbird 002 is the first product to to be spawned from the acquisition of Voodoo PC by PC giant HP. As you perhaps know HP acquired Voodoo PC last year and with Voodoo PC’s enthusiast and gaming-inspired systems it wasn’t hard to figure out what HP hoped to gain from this. We have since then been expecting the first HP/Voodoo PC systems and so the time has finally come. HP Blackbird 002 is namely the name of HP’s next enthusiast and gaming system sporting a whole new case design that is suppose to be both esthetic and good for performance.
The case design uses a stand that adds both an exciting touch, but also makes sure the 1100 W power supply gets enough air for the cooling.
HP Blackbird 002 uses a sealed and maintenance-free water cooling system for cooling both processor and graphics card, while keeping the noise at a minimum. The hardware inside of Blackbird 002 can be defined by the buyer down to the smallest component. The system is expected to appear at HP’s online store soon and will cost somewere around 2,500 USD to 6,500 USD. This is probably more than most can afford, but then again that was never the intention. HP has really shown that it will give Dell and Alienware are run for the high-end consumers.
The water cooling is actually Asetek’s LCLC (Low Cost Liquid Cooling) and according to Asetek there will be plenty of room for overclocking.
“We put a lot of thought into how to cool Blackbird and the Asetek LCLC is better than anything we’ve seen before. We believe our simple, pre-sealed, liquid cooling design blows competing solutions away,” said Rahul Sood, Chief Technology Officer, Global Gaming Business Unit, HP. “Asetek helped us in tegrate a liquid cooling solution that offers customers the tangible benefits of being efficient, quiet and reliable without the marketing hype.”
