Laptops are closing in on the performance of desktop computers, but at the same time these particular models have lost focus on what it is all about, the portability and the battery time. There are laptops that offers quite impressive battery time and to those that are traveling a lot and rarely have access to an outlet this is the most important of all. When we talk about battery time today it’s usually laptops with more than 5-6h that are considered “OK”, but that’s nothing compared to what HP has managed to squeeze out from EliteBook 6930p.

HP EliteBook 6930p offers up to 24 hours of battery time with its most power efficient configuration that includes an Illumi-Lite LED-based display that adds up to 4 more hours compared to a regular LCD. It also sports Intel’s new Solid State Drive (X25-M), which lowers power consumption by another 7%, compared to a mechanical 2.5″ harddrive. The press release doesn’t say what the remaining components are.

“All-day computing has been the holy grail of notebook computing,” said Ted Clark, senior vice president and general manager, Notebook Global Business Unit, HP. “With the HP EliteBook 6930p, customers no longer have to worry about their notebook battery running out before their work day is over.”

It’s worth mentioning that it is actually a relatively large laptop with a 14.1″ display, and the net weight of EliteBook 6930p is about 2.1kg. They main reason for the huge battery time is the battery though, and HP offers a 12-cell ultra capacity battery that by itself weighs 800 grams, but also delivers this extreme battery time. We think most people are willing to accept that though when you get a round-the-clock work potential.
