HP, and VIA, has now announced that they’ve designed and built a desktop system that will be launched in China. The thing that makes this system special is that it is built entirely around VIA’s circuits; from the VIA C7-D processor to the VIA UniChrome Pro II graphics circuit. The basic idea is to meet the ever increasing demand for efficient and cheap computers on the Chinese market. During the last few years China has been developing rapidly, not the least technologically and the need for cheap and efficient computers is growing fast. We’ve earlier seen how Dell launched computers with Linux in China, I.e. to keep the price down. HP Compaq dx2020 uses DDR2-533 memories and a 160GB SATA harddrive. We highly doubt that HP Compaq dx2020 will find its way outside of China, especially as the focus is so strict on performance/watt.
