According to fresh market figures, Hewlett-Packard is now the world’s biggest PC manufacturer, something we’ve grown used to calling Dell. Both IDC and Gartner have published surveys of the worldwide PC sales and both analytical companies list HP as the market leader and it’s actually with a quite comfortable margin. The figures are for the first quarter of 2007 and are compared to the same period last year when Dell was the market leader. According to IDC a total of 58.9 million PCs were sold during the first quarter of 2007, which is 10.9 percent more than last year.
According to the same survey, HP has increased its sales with 28.2 percent since last year to a total of 11.24 million PCs, which results in a market share of 19.1 percent.
At the same time, Dell sold 6.9 percent less than the same period last year and the market share went down to 15.2 percent. A pretty obvious sign for that the PC giant has some problems to look into. HP is just doing better and better and we’re anxious to see if the trend will continues.
