HP is about to launch its first real gaming laptop according to unconfirmed sources. Electronista.com has published reports of a HP Pavilion HDX, with both pictures and specifications. HDX is a laptop with a 20″ display and most likely based on Intel’s new Santa Rosa platform. More detailed specifications are not available today, but we would not be surprised if HP chooses to use one of Intel’s first mobile Extreme Edition processors. Since HP is a HD DVD follower we can most likely expect an HD DVD player, at least as an option, as the laptop also sports an HDMI output via the GeForce Go 8 graphics circuit.
HP’s first real gaming laptop is most likely a development through its close work together with VoodooPC, a company HP acquired last year.
“Similar to the XPS M2010, the HDX will more closely resemble a portable desktop with a 20-inch display and a handle to carry the 12-pound system. The lower half of the casing is large enough that a full-featured Windows Media Center remote docks to the left of a full-size keyboard, complete with touch-sensitive media keys at the top.”
We’re still waiting for any official information about HP’s new laptop, but according to the unconfirmed sources the laptop is expected to arrive within the coming months.
