One of the more interesting formats of modern notebooks sports 13.3″ displays. Apple, Sony and Dell are three companies that have been using this format but more are coming. Rumors are going around that Hewlett-Packard are investigating several new notebooks with 13.3″ displays and Intel’s energy efficient CULV (consumer ultra low voltage) platform. There are no details more than that Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics will manufacture them.
It feels like an obvious coincidence that HP’s 13.3″ model would use ska CULV processors, the same format MSI uses with its X-Slim series. HP may very well be about to launch its own superslim notebook series to counter MacBook Air, Dell Adamo, MSI X-Slim and other similar models expected to appear in 2009.
We can only hope for more competition in this new and so far narrow segment.
