Hynix makes 800MHz memory circuits at 60nm

Hynix has now introduced DDR2-800 memory chips made with a new 60nm process. The more efficient manufacturing process will make it possible for Hynix to make DRAM components with a really high memory density and it has amongst others already designed 1GB and 2GB unbuffered DIMMs working at 800MHz. Hynix new 60nm circuits has a density of 1Gbit and the prices of these are said to be about 50% of regular 80nm circuits. Lower manufacturing costs and the possibility to manufacture memory modules with a high density are the two biggest advantages of the new circuits, according to Hynix, which is also going for RDIMM and FB-DIMM modules with over 4GB capacity.
