Storage maker RaidSonic has several heavy brands under its wings and it has now presented a new stationary media player. It calls Icy Box IB-MP305 for a media adapter and the player is more or less the middle-hand for connecting your computer to your TV. Through a network, USB harddrive or why not a memory card from which the player can read your pictures and show them on the TV. It has a number of video outputs including HDMI, component and composite.

Icy Box IB-MP305 has no own storage but can be connected to digital storage units in multiple ways. It supports many audio and video formats, all from the common MP3 to flash video and several High Definition video formats (e.g. MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 at 1080p).

The player outputs audio digitally through the HDMI output or a SPDIF cable, but there are also analog stereo outputs.

ICY BOX IB-MP305 is the media adapter which virtually fulfills every need. It supports all common video and audio formats, including Flash video, Dolby Digital and DTS which is delivered also through HDMI. Even in the future the IB-MP305 will be in the lead as its firmware is updatable. Media files are fed to the ICY BOX via LAN, WiFi, USB or cardreader. Metal body.

The design is laid back and should make Icy Box IB-MP305 blend with most other home cinema equipment. The price of the device is about $150 and will arrive in August.
