Ultrabooks are starting to pop up here and there, and the next in line is Lenovo that as usual is is going for a clean industrial design. IdeaPad U300 is an evolution of the U260 and has a glass touchpad, unibody aluminum case with a profile of only 15 mm.
Soon all major PC builders have revealed their respective Ultrabooks. Lenovo IdeaPad looks like a very interesting alternative, not just considering hardware and performance, but also for functions and design.
IdeaPad U300 chassi is built with a unibody design, which is important for stability in thin designs and it gets a glass touchpad. IdeaPad U300 measures ~15 mm (0.6″) in profile, unlike the predecessor U260 with its ~18 mm (0.7″) and weighs 1.3 kg. Besides an appealing design the computer will boot in 10.5 sekunder, offer battery times up to 8 hours and the battery till charge to 50% in only 30 minutes.

The computer sports Intel Wireless Display, also known as WiDi for streaming material from your computer to your TV wirelessly, also HDMI and USB 3.0 are supported. The hardware specifications are not set yet, but will vary depending on the price, but the top model ships with Intel Core i7-2677M dual-core processor with Hyper-Threading and 4 MB cache. The processor comes with 1.8 GHz that can rise to 2.9 GHz in turbo mode, with 17W TDP. IdeaPad U300 also gets 4 GB DDR3 memory and 256GB SSD, depending on model.
Lenovo IdeaPad U300 will be released in November, and the price is so far unknown but will fit the mainstream market, said Rory Read that recently left Lenovo for the VP position at AMD.
