Apple’s integrated iMac computers will now appear in a new suit where the perhaps biggest difference is the size of them. The original 20″ and 24″ models have been replaced by a new 21.5″ entry model and a massive 27″ flagship. The new displays use the 16:9 image format and boosts 1920×1080 pixel and 2560×1440 pixel resolution. With glass covered IPS panels using LED backlighting image quality will be top notch, as long as the sun doesn’t shine in.
Hardware has been updated to maximum of 16GB RAM and 2TB harddrive space. Processor alternatives includes not just Core 2 Duo but also Intel’s new Core i5/i7 processors. The 27″ model of iMac can be had with both Core i5 and Core i7 processors, but not until November and then prices start at $1,999.
The entry model of iMac is a 21.5″ model with 4GB RAM, 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo CPU, 500GB storage and NVIDIA’s integrated GeForce 9400M graphics. The price tag is $1,199, more alternatives and configurations can be found at Apple’s website.
Together with the new iMac models Apple has also launched Magic Mouse using touch technology. The cover of the mouse is sensitive to touches and ships without mechanical buttons. Through simple motion you can scroll, click or navigate. The price of this magic creation is $69.
