Intel will launch its first 32nm processors in the fourth quarter and not surprisingly the focus is on power consumption. Intel hasn’t released any official specifications regarding this yet, but that hasn’t stopped it from putting the new platform to the test by publishing a video at YouTube. It has simply released a video showing a power consumption test with the a complete Clarksdale platform and revealed how much power it consumes.
Clarksdale has both processor and graphics circuit on-die and the entire platform, including motherboard and memory, consumes about 65W according to Intel’s demo video.
That’s not power consumption when idle but heavy load. Pretty decent we have to say, but it also confirms that Clarksdale will most likely not be branded much higher than 65W TDP. We will just have to wait and see what number Intel will go for and what models there will be.
