Intel aims for 5h battery time with laptops

Intel’s new processor architecture that will arrive during the summer for the desktop platform is called Conroe. The equivalent for the portable market is called Merom and will be an important part of Intel’s work for longer battery times. The power effective processor architecture makes it possible for times over 5 hours which is a quite impressive figure for a high performance machine. Of course, the battery time depends a lot on the other components, but Intel has high hopes for the new architecture and its efficiency. However we are still far away from the 8 hours Intel has promised before 2008.
