If you thought Intel didn’t have any more Atom processors up its sleeve you would be wrong. The next one will be a new dual-core, Atom D525, that will operate at 1.8GHz. The processor will support DDR3 memory, which means system builders will be able to offer a greater variety of DDR2 and DDR3 systems, but also reduce power consumption.
Even though it operates at a higher frequency, 1,8GHz vs. 1,66GHz, it sits in the same TDP envelope as the D510 model, 13W. The processor is slated for Q2, together with the single-core siblings Atom N475 and N455, who are also native DDR3.
