Intel has officially launched its new Centrino platform, better known as Santa Rosa. The new platform is based on the Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset which also sports Intel’s new graphics circuit with Clear Video Technology. The sidekick of the Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset will, as expected, be Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors with an 800MHz processor bus, the older Meroms had a 667MHz processor bus. Another important update of the Santa Rosa platform is its support for the not yet finalized network standard 802.11n. This wireless standard offers up to five times higher transfer rates than 802.11g and twice the reach.
