Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 will be the first quad-core processor from Intel and when it arrives at the start of next month it will be with a mighty price tag. The recommended prices will according to unconfirmed information be at 999 USD (at 1000 units), which is just what we expected considering all of Intel’s Extreme models costs this much when they’re launched. The next quad-core from Intel will be Core 2 Quad Q6600 which will be launched in January of 2007 and this processor will also be quite expensive. The recommended price has been set to 851 USD (at 1000 units). The high prices means that quad-core will hardly become common anytime soon, but still real nice PR for Intel.
