We have earlier reported about some preliminary benchmarks with Intel’s coming desktop architecture Conroe. WictorWang had in a first SuperPi test managed to score 21.545s with a 2.4GHz Conroe. A very impressive and promising result if we compare it to what e.g. Crotale and a “slightly” overclocked 955XE at 6.6GHz can do: 19.953s. “Gamer”, a forum user at MadShrimps.be, had come across an Intel Duo Core T2600 that he overclocked to 3.4GHz and then ran a SuperPi test with. The earlier record, pre-Conroe, was with a Pentium 4 670 that was overclocked to 7.2GHz and then reached 17s and Gamer managed with a similare score. The fact is through that the current record is actually even lower, 16.312s with a T2600 at 3.7GHz.
