We reported about a week ago about information that stated that AMD would be on the verge of acquiring graphic card manufacturer ATI. A deal that would be one of the biggest mergers in history of the retail hardware industry. This information came from an analyst that thought he saw an interest from AMD to increase its capacity the upcoming years. Far from everyone was convinced when they heard about this, but now TweakTown writes that AMD’s archrival Intel not only finds the deal possible but also quite feasible.

“From a trusted and reliable anonymous source, today we learned that Intel are talking behind closed doors about the real possibility of an AMD and ATI merger, with some seriousness, and discussing what it could mean for their future business and bottom line.”

We see nothing about what effects a merger between AMD and ATI would result in, but it could result in an interesting situation for NVIDIA which has made a name as the leading chipset manufacturer for AMD’s processor platforms. This is hardly the last we will hear about this potential deal between AMD and ATI and we will get back to you when more information surfaces.
