BTX has to be considered one of the most desperate solutions we’ve seen in a very long time. Intel launched BTX in an attempt to get control of the heat development of its now almost extinct NetBurst architecture. The problem with BTX was in no way that it was a bad design. The fact is that the layout of these motherboards are very clever and actually have a much better airflow than regular ATX. BTX has had a tough time reaching out and has been a really rare sight. Now The Inquirer reports that Intel will kill off BTX next year. There is simply no use for it anymore now that Core has turned the CPU market upside down.
