Intel moves into the low-end processor market

0

Intel has earlier shown little interest in the market where VIA and AMD have released a number of so called low-end systems. VIA’s C7 and AMD’s Geode have both been selling well and this has awoken the giant. Intel will now relaunched three ol’ friends: ULV Celeron M 600MHz, Celeron M 800M (900MHz) and Mobile Celeron 1.2GHz. These three have a TDP (Thermal Design Power) at 7W, 13W and 20W respectively and will in turn require minimal cooling. The first doesn’t even need a fan. The basic idea is to be able to compete with VIA and AMD, but we’re a bit uncertain whether they will be able to do so considering the outdated platform they have to use; i852GM.
