Intel is about to develop the next generation manufacturing process for its processors and from today’s 65nm technology it is in a few years time to take the step over to 45nm with smaller and more efficient transistors. Earlier we’ve seen indications for that Intel had plans for introducing its 45nm technology during the fourth quarter of 2007, but now it seems it has delayed this until the first quarter of 2008. Considering the big changover it usually is to develop a new manufacturing process you shouldn’t read too much into this, a lot can still happen. But Intel is despite this far in front of the competition and there still seems to be a lot to collect from the relatively new 65nm technology.
