Intel has had a great row of quarterly reports and the last is no exception. Intel broke 13 billion dollar revenue for one quarter. A number that was 21% higher than the same quarter last year.
Intel concluded that its two best markets was PC clients where it was up 11% from last year, and its datacenter section was up 15%. The latter is said to be an effect of the development of the mobile market that has built up a bigger load on mobile networka and Internet, which in turn requires larger hardware investments that has gained Intel.
Intel had despite its nice figures some darker areas in the report. Among others the sales for the budget processor Atom dropped 15%, year-to-year. This is most likely due to a very successful launch of AMD Fusion, but also ARM and its movement in the tablet market.
Atom was one of Intel’s disappointments in Q2 2011.
Intel’s net profit landed at 3 billion dollar, which was up by 2% from Q2 2010, but 7% lower than Q1 2011. The result per share was also lower than Q1 and was down by 4% to 54 cent.
Intel has high expectations before the remainder of the year where it expects a revenue of 14 billion dollar for Q3 and an annual profit increase of around 20%.
