Pentium is one of Intel’s most well-known trademarks and if things turn out as they seem, it will end soon. According to TGDaily’s sources, Intel is about to phase out the name Pentium so they will be called Intel D 9XX instead of Intel Pentium D 9XX. Of course big gambling from Intel, but at the same time clearly understandable; the name Pentium has a lot of baggage and the family is quite wide which makes it confusing with the name Pentium everywhere. They lose a very strong trademark, but hopefully it will be replaced with something similar soon. You have to wonder what will happen to the name Celeron, a name which has lost all its pride since the Socket 370 era.
