Intel’s new 45nm process will be able to lift its processor architecture to whole new levels of performance and scalability, but at the same time the real goal of the 45mn process is to optimize the manufacturing of the circuits. Intel claims that the transition to 45nm is the biggest that has happened in circuit manufacturing in 40 years and that the lower manufacturing costs will result in a big advantage for Intel. The 45nm technology is up to 30 percent more cost efficient than the technologies used by the competition (read AMD). At The Inquirer they’ve snagged a couple of slides where Intel presents its broad venture with 45nm with details covering everything from the process itself and its many factories.
