Intel trash HyperThreading – real cores prioritized

0

Intel has now announced that it will phase out its multithreading technology HyperThreading, a technology that has been used to improve the multithreading performance by simulating an extra physical core. Despite that Intel has now moved on to dual physical cores HyperThreading is still around with some processors, e.g. Extreme Edition. As many have thought it was just a matter of time before HyperThreading would disappear completely now when Intel has chosen to continue with working for more and new multicore solutions, four cores and more. Intel’s calls its new project “tera scaling” and with more physical cores the use of an artificial multithreading technology become redundant.
