Intel Core will contain three different processor series; Woodcrest for the server market, Conroe for the desktop market and Merom for the mobile market. Earlier rumors said that Woodcrest would be launched during the third quarter of 2006 while Conroe and Merom would have to wait until the fourth qaurter. Intel has now announced, through its VP Paul Otellini, that Conroe and Merom will also be launched during the third quarter. This statement comes just a few days after information about AMD’s earlier launch of Socket AM2 appeared. We’ve earlier seen prices for the Intel’s Conroe processors that, if they are correct, are looking very promising for a completely new architecture. We’re realy looking forward to the upcoming months that will be some of the most interesting we”ve experienced so far. Source: TG Daily
