Intel will use PowerVR SGX for the UMPC market

0

Intel has earlier teamed up with Imagination Technologies and licensed the company’s graphics circuit architecture PowerVR SGX. Lately rumors have been going around that Intel would use this for its portable units and now this has been confirmed. PowerVR SGX will with its programmable core be used with Intel’s UMPC, Ultra Mobile PC. Today UMPC manufacturers use Intel’s own integrated graphics circuit, but when the PowerVR GSX architecture will be used it will open up new doors with these portable units. Support for Windows Vista is one of the big advantages. Whether the architecture will be used with other products from Intel remains to be seen though.
