Intel has been focusing a lot on making their own chipsets for their platforms in difference to AMD who is relying on others. At Anandtech they’ve published an article on Intel’s current plans for its chipsets. Among others they bring up the i975X Express which is expected to arrive during 2006. This chipset supports dual PCI Express-graphic cards, which is the first chipset we from Intel that supports this. Its earlier dual-PEG (Dual PCI Express Graphics) support has only been with the Tumwater chipset which was geared towards workstations and servers. It also seems both ATi and nVidia will support i975X Express with Crossfire and SLI,.
