We’ve all seen it in at least one movie. A display which appears like out of nowhere and present some kind of information. According to an article published in Nature last month this isn’t as far off as one might think. The article is namely about a transistor which is both efficient and see-through. This would hen make it possible to use these on a e.g. glass or plastic surface and in that way create a invisible display. This will only make it seem like letters and words are floating freely, but the thought of it is still quite thrilling. The transistors are made from indium oxide which then covered by organic molecules as isolation. The scientists are seeing some great possibilities with these (we can imagine more than a few advertising possibilities), but the first prototypes are not expected to be ready until in about 12-18 months from now.
