Iomega StorCenter Wireless Network Storage is a NAS unit, a network attached storage that is perfect for smaller network and companies. But this isn’t just any NAS but it actually comes with support for wireless networks, except for the regular Gigabit Ethernet interface. The unit comes with a capacity at 1TB through four 250GB harddrive that can be configured in a number of different RAID arrays. The main connection is of course the Gigabit Ethernet port but through the support for the 802.11g standard you can access the unit without wires, while the connection is kept safe through WEP and WPA encryption. Iomega has launched two new units in its StorCenter family and they offer somewhat different features.
Except from the well equipped Wireless Network Storage 1TB model it has also launched a smaller model that comes with 500GB capacity and is called StoreCenter Network Hard Drive 500GB. This model also use 250GB harddrives, but only two. It comes with just the Gigabit Ethernet interface and two USB2.0 ports, just as big brother.
