Iomega has launched a new media player and the company has managed fit in most of the things we like. The network media playerhas room for a 2TB harddrive and use the popular Boxee interface, together with a so called QWERTY remote with keyboard on the side.
The XBMC-based multimedia interface Boxee has gained a lot of attention, not the least for its appearance in the media player Boxee Box. That Iomega has chosen this system for its new media player is therefore hardly surprising.
Just like the PC version of the interface Iomega’s Boxee platforms focuses on both locally stored media and streamed media from the Internet, The assortment is depending on your country and local services, but with built-in Wi-Fi and support for 1080p playback Iomega TV with Boxee will be well prepared.
Iomega TV with Boxee comes with an Intel CE4100 CPU and has hardware similar to Boxee Box from D-Link. The bundled QWERTY remote has gained inspiration from Boxee Box, a more positive development where we just lack a touchpad on the top of the remote.
Signals are sent to the TV through HDMI or composite, while extra harddrives can be connected through the two USB ports. Iomega TV with Boxee can be had without internal storage, 1 TB or 2 TB storage. The media player will be available in stores in February.
