Apple iPhone has been a huge success, and both Apple and the operator AT&T are most likely more than pleased. AT&T is namely the sole operator offering contracts for Apple’s iPhone, so far, and Apple’s mobile phone is locked to AT&T’s net and SIM card. Ever since the launch people have been trying to unlock the new phone and hacking the iPhone has become a huge project. It seems that the first simple software hack has appeared. The hack makes it possible to unlock the iPhone and use it with other operators. At Engadget they’ve published a pictures and a video that proves the authenticity of the hack. According to Engadget the unlocking will work even after that the phone has been updated with new firmwares and a full restore of the phone.

By the looks of it, more or less all features are still there and there’s more information about this over at Engadget. We’re still not entirely sure what version of the iPhone that will arrive in Europe, but if this hack still works when Apple launches iPhone over here, operator locks will certainly not be a problem.
