iPod Nano was recently upgraded and with a design much like the one Apple uses with iPod mini a lot has happened with both the design and functions since the first version of Nano. Apple has released new models in several colors, thrown in a brighter display and more storage. At Ars Technica they’ve decided to take a closer look at the player to see how it stands up to the older generationen and how much Apple has really improved with its popular flash media player. It takes a closer look at the design of the player and also offer some now classic “stress tests” where they basically test the player during some truly horrible circumstances.

Unfortunately it didn’t survive all tests, even if the second generation of iPod Nano survived a turn in the washing machine. Despite that the new Nano doesn’t seem to be as durable as the predecessor, Apple has improved the protection against scratches, something Nano users have been complaining so much about.
