It’s a small portion of all users that actually can afford the constant upgrades you need to do to keep yourself constantly up to date. Trying to keep up with the computer industry’s development isn’t exactly cheap and a apparent obstacle the last year has been the transition to the PCI Express interface for the video cards. Those who are using older computer systems with a AGP motherboard and perhaps a processor without many PCI Express motherboards a video card update can become a rather hard decision to make. The choice is simply to either upgrade pretty much everything; video card, CPU, motherboard and perhaps even memory. Or continue using the AGP platform a little while longer and buy a new video card for a dying format.

None of the options are entirely optimal for an enthusiast with a strict budget, but at Legion Hardware they’ve sat down and thought about what difference an upgrade of your older AGP system would do. They’ve taken a mid-range computer with a Radeon X700 Pro video card and exchanged this for a newer X1600 Pro to see how much you really gain from this. A very interesting comparison for those who wants to gain some more time before the next big upgrade.
