iTunes U sends lectures for college students

Small preview imageiTunes U is Apple’s latest newcomer for their online based music store, and is meant for american college students. iTunes U’s purpose is to handle podcasts of university lectures that the students would be able to listen to in their portable mediaplayers, iPods in other words. The expression Podcast comes from the words “iPod” and “broadcasting”, which shortly explains the technology in question, a form of subscription of media files that you could play in your iPod or in iTunes-software. Apple will co-operate with american universities and give them a special version of the iTunes-software which enables the schools to post podcasts or other kinds of files on iTunes-homepages.

“Schools and universities have historically been major contributors to Apple’s computer sales. With iTunes U, Apple “is leveraging the ubiquity that we’ve established on campuses with iPods and iTunes,” said Chris Bell, Apple’s director of product marketing for iTunes.”
