TV sets at 100″ or more are usually just PR stunts by the manufacturers as they usually only make a few samples of each and never launch them. There are exceptions though and one of them is actually the world’s largest HDTV from JVC. The TV uses a hybrid rear projection technology, and it’s not a LCD or Plasma-TV. But you can’t complain about size though, 110″. JVC’s 110″ beast will hit the stores in July and be delivered in October. The specifications of JVC HD-110MH80 include 1080p resolution and a contrast ratio at 5000:1. The new rear projection TV uses JVC’s own D-ILA technology and has some drawbacks.
First of all, you need a lot of space to house all of the electronics and not the least, and it weighs quite a lot. According to JVC it weighs 330kg (730 lbs.) and the only thing more frightening is the price $53,000 USD.
