KDE has announced the release of KDE 4.0 beta 4 and the Development Platform RC. This beta release is mainly a code clean-up build, but does include a couple of new features for e.g. Plasma (the desktop and panel user interface) moving it a lot closer to what it will be like when KDE 4 is finally released later this year. The release of the Development Platform RC is perhaps even more important though, as it will make it significantly easier for third-party developers to port their current applications to the coming KDE 4 format before it is actually released. KDE 4 is coming along nicely and we have to say that we’re quite excited about upcoming release right before the end of the year.
