Assembly in Helsinki, Finland is one of the world biggest LAN parties and just like during DreamHack in Sweden, Kinc was there to display his overclocking skills together with ASUS. In lack of a good quad-core processor he focused on 3DMark 05 instead, this is also where Radeon HD 2900 XT really shines. it wasn’t long ago that our graphics card editor and overclocking ace managed to break 34,000 and while we’re still a few points short of 35,000 we’re certainly closing in fast. The new 3DMark 05 record is 34,634 points.
Beside the Radeon HD 2900 XTs Kinc used an Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 (L617) running at 5342MHz (445×12), a pair of Corsair 6400C3 and a new ASUS P5W64 WS Pro. Altogether this made it possible for him to improve his previous world record.
The graphics cards where overclocked to 1080MHz GPU and 999MHz memory. The humidity at Assembly was rather extreme though and he was only able to bench in sessions of 20-30 minutes at a time. As you can see on the pictures below there is quite a lot of ice forming on the cards. If the humidity had been lower we might have seen higher GPU clocks and perhaps 35,000 points.
