It was just little more than a few week ago that the first 128GB USB memories arrived, bring the storage up to triple digits. Even if a USB memory with room for 128GB of files should be enough for just about anyone, there are those who are traveling with more than just important documents, perhaps the movie collection also, and Kingston has made sure that these people can move around freely with a new memory with 256GB capacity.
It wasn’t long ago our NAND flash SSDs reached 256GB capacity and it is already available in pocket format. Kingston DataTraveler 300 measures 70.68 x 22.37 x 16.45 mm and beside the storage capacity the price tag is quite big, namely around $900 for the most spacious USB memory around.
Another problem could be that the read speed is only 20MB/while the write speed at 10MB/s will force you to wait up to 7 hours to fill the memory. Though in the end, it’s impressive to see 256GB of data in such a small format.
