According to a recent survey by market research company iSuppli, Kingston Technology not only withholds its market-leading position, but has widened the gap down to the second largest by 1.4%, to a market share of 18.1%. That’s three times as much as Smart Modular and Ramaxel which had 5.5% and 5.3%, and was the second and third largest DRAM manufacturers of 2006. Kingston improved its revenue by $800 million USD during 2006, and reached a total revenue of $2.2 billion. Other than the three previous, there are some other and well known brands on the list: A-DATA, TwinMOS, Crucial, PQI, Corsair, Apacer and Transcend (fourth to tenth). The market showed an overall strong growth, although low prices hindered it slightly.
Overall Kingston was the only company that showed a significant growth, Ramaxel the only exception as it improved from 3.68% to 5.3%.
