JMicron has a poor reputation on the Solid State market since its first generation SSD controller circuit suffered from some serious stuttering and performance loss at longer use. JMicron has returned with a new SSD controller, JMF618, that was developed together with semiconductor giant Toshiba. The new controller can be found inside Kingston’s latest SSDNow V+ drives.

The performance of the SSD controller is a lot more competitive now at regular read and write tests. This is still a budget oriented controller and it shows when the more advanced file transfers are tested where the lack of NCQ support shows, which affects IOPS performance noticeably.

But with an efficient TRIM function and a pretty low price Kingston’s new SSD may find its way into the hands of many customers. More information can be found in the reviews listed below.
