Konica Minolta is one of the world’s leading document imaging and even they are perhaps best known for its cameras among consumers they are one of the leaders in printing and related medical equipment. The Linux Foundation has now announced that Konica Minolta has joined and will be working with its OpenPrinting workgroup. It will be working with developing and improving standard APIs for printers and improve the overall experience of using printers with Linux-based computers. The combination of printers and Linux isn’t something Linux users are all that proud of, but this will hopefully change that.

“We are proud to announce that we have become a member of The Linux Foundation to better cope with customer needs in the Linux OS field. We are convinced that we can contribute to the customer through LF by the technology that we have cultivated in the office equipment business for a ling time,” Atsushi Sekiguchi, Konica Minolta Business Technologies, Inc.
