LCOS will repalce Plasma?

0

LCOS is perhaps a rather unknown technology to most but has actually been available for a few years now. Mainly in high-end products and when Intel closed its LCOS-project in 2004 things got very quiet. LCOS is something of a golden middle way between LCD and Plasma since it borrows a little from both but LCOS TVs are usually larger and more expensive. However now LCOS manufacturer Brillian has joined up with low end LCD-manufacturer Syntax and plans on launching new LCOS TVs at the beginning of next year. They say that the LCD-technology is the winner at up to 50″ but that LCOS will replace Plasma in the  50+ segment. A daring statement and we should be able to tell whether they where right sometime next year.
