Lenovo has launched a new notebooks called IdeaPad Y470p, which sports a 14″ screen and Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors. Lenovo equips the new rig with a 2.2 GHz Core i7-2670QM processor and Radeon HD 7690M graphics circuit from AMD.

Lenovo is one of the first manufacturers to bake in AMD’s “next generation” mobile graphics circuits and Radeon HD 7690M is the flagship of the mid-range. Radeon HD 7690M is not related to AMD’s new Southern Islands architecture that is the base of Radeon HD 7900. AMD has instead taken its TeraScale 2 architecture from Radeon HD 6000M and upgraded it, and the new HD 7600M series is still made with 40 nanometer technology.

With 480 Radeon cores and even more efficient manufacturing technology Radeon HD 7690M should be an interesting choice before the first 28 nanometer circuits are out. According to unconfirmed rumors the new HD 7600M series sports some new optimizations. AMD says that its own tests have shown Radeon HD 7690M powerful enough to run Battlefield 3 at 40 fps at 1366 x 768 pixels – the standard resolution for Lenovo IdeaPad Y470p.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y470p sports 8GB DDR3-minne, 1GB dedicated GDDR5 graphics memory, 750GB harddrive at 5400 RPM, DVD burner, 2 megapixels web camera, JBL speakers, 6-cell battery and Windows 7 Home Premium. The metal covered computers also has a load of ports in the form of HDMI, GbE, USB, eSATA and 6-in-1 memory card reader. It also sports 802.11n Wifi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
